The fact that this is a lie routinely told by Catholic haters does not make it true.
"But the Roman Catholic Church was formed after Constantine took power in Rome."
Why do you say that?
Recognized and Canonized are two very different things. Your understanding of Church History picks and chooses. You recognize the importance of the Church Fathers, but deny the Church they were members of. You deny the Council of Hippo, but recognize the Canon it endorsed. That is bad history.
I wouldn't know. I'm Catholic. Let's get some clarity here: THe way of the Lord is that Protestants can say nasty things that aren't true and sho' 'nuff haven't been checked out about Catholics, but Catholics have to be all nice ant patient.
Actually that sounds about right. Well, in my own jocular way, that's what I'm trying.
The author was a little more specific...ie. where is the biblical authority for a priest to pray over the bread and wine to turn it into flesh and blood...Maybe you can adress the actual citations in the article...
+
:)
What sect do you claim?
Certainly no Christian denies the Trinity or denies the Eucharist and yet it appears you do.
You're trying to make too much of it...The scripture was there...So your church took some expensive leather and made a cover for it...After Jerome re-wrote it in his version...And then your church set out on a world-wide mission to destroy all scripture that didn't line up with Jerome's version...Fortunately, they didn't succeed...
As St. Paul says. But, as he also says, there are diversities of gifts of the Spirit. You seem to be a nose complaining that some other part of the body thinks it's a hand.
Can you (a) give me the citation of your "Search the Scriptures' passage and then (b) show unequivocally how it is directed at YOU? Isn't it in fact a traditional interpretation of something Jesus says to the Pharisees that you are offering as justification for not listening to what St. Paul says about diversities of gifts?
Give it up. He's only saying that the church that is at Rome has or should have preeminence among all the smaller churches in and around Rome, just as the church at Thessalonica would have preeminence in the area around it.
And Ignatius coined the term "catholic" but Pontiff Constantine capitolized that term and then capitolized on it for the title of his new Roman church. What Ignatius meant by "catholic" and what "Catholic" has come to mean are quite different, so different that he must still be turning over in his grave at the misuse of his word.
Yep. And I'm a protestant.
LOL.
So you subscribe to the Gnostic Gospels? To the Non-Canonical Acts of the Apostles?
So you are a Gnostic? So you deny the Trinity? So you deny the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ? So you deny the Last Supper (see earlier response to Salvation)?
That's one of the points of the article...Jesus wasn't celebrating Easter although Pagans may have been celebrating Easter on that night...
But like the author says...It was a Jewish church with Jewish Christians...And there was no Catholic on the face of the earth...
Catholicism remains popular because a Catholic can sin all the way to purgatory and someone can buy their way out of hell fire right into heaven.
Good to know. I think I will put my salvation on my Visa card.
They do so because they are scared of the Catholic church and its priests.
Maybe the author thinks the term Lavender Mafia refers to a gang of killer priests.
When they look for Jesus Christ to be a Catholic they are shocked he was not a Catholic and never attended a Catholic church.
But, but I go to Holy Family, doesnt that mean Jesus and His family went here too?
Of course the priest will try numerous tricks to keep Catholics in the church
So, that is why Cardinal Mahoney allows those Clown Masses.
When Catholics discover this is false, that Jesus started a Jewish religion,
That would be news to the Apostles as well. Too bad St. Paul did not know of this restriction think of the aggravation he could have spared himself.
When a Catholic opens their Bible they will not find the small wafer as pictured on the left. They will not find anyone sticking out their tongue to have the wafer placed there by a Catholic priest.
My family Bible is rather large, but I doubt it could hide a communion wafer let alone a communicant.
Usually there is music and a song immediately after the consecration that turns the bread and wine into the flesh and blood of Jesus.
Yeah you never can trust a Church where they have Hymns.
They learn the Catholic church invented a white religion that is racist and portrays Mary, Joseph, Jesus as white people when they were black or brown.
It is an established historical fact that the Catholic Popes and clergy are actually secret members of the Klu Klux Klan, plus they cant jump or dance.
When a Catholic opens their Bible they will not find Mary attending a Catholic Church. They will not find her as a Nun. They will not find a perpetual virgin. If Mary is not a Catholic there is no Catholic church.
Again my Bible is not that big. But otherwise the argument is so sound how can one refute it? Oh I know BPHHHTTTTT
Because of the clarity of his arguments. Because of the logic and deep thinking evident in his writing. Because of his knowledge of history, religion, theology and Scripture. Because of his charity to other and his humility. Because his perception and his insight on the Catholic Church. And most of all because of his keen intellect, wisdom and knowledge. I have decided to remain Catholic.
Yes...
He was writing from Antioch. That's not near Rome. So stop trying to rewrite History.
Where is that in the Bible? Your much-loved author does not subscribe to the Trinity.
They stretch the very definitions of "Christian" and then mock the Universal Church.
I'm not interested in being a member of YOUR church...I have been saved thru faith by the grace of God, without works of any sort and have become a Christian 'perfectly' by the standards set forth by the words of God...
Jesus traded His sins for mine since He knew there was NOTHING I could do to merit salvation...Praise God...
