I am a very shallow person, so flattery will get you anywhere. That being said, both tradition and Magisteriam rely on man's reason, which is always relative to the culture interpreting it. Scripture is the eternal, unchanging truth and the only special revelation of God and His plan of redemption, preserved and kept by the Holy Spirit, who is the ultimate interpreter of the scripture. The scriptures say He is the revealer of Truth and is available to all believers, not just the professionals.

Huh... When you read Scripture you are guided by the Holy Ghost (although Scripture doesn't teach that) but when the Church/Magisterium Teaches authoritatively about Scripture (like in an Ecumenical Council)it is really the weltanschauung distilled into Doctrine (even though Scripture teaches Jesus sent the Holy Spirit upon the Church to teach it all truth).

Well, one might get the idea that is special pleading on steroids...but, who am I to say :)

both tradition and Magisteriam rely on man's reason,

That's how we understand things, BD, by reason (that's not how we know things, but that's how we understand them).

Please don't tell me that you don't rely on reason. And please don't tell me that the Holy Spirit guides you, because I will ask you to prove it.

Or should we just take your word for it?
