you weren't dealing with scripture, you were explaining what the RCC teaches The scripture is what the Church teaches. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. The RCC doesn't teach the scriptures, it 'wrests' them (2Pe.3:16)

Yet you should know that Pope Benedict XVI effected a change this year in the Stations of the Cross that RCs make a part of their Easter observance; a rather controversial change (and upsetting for some): He removed all reference to Saint Veronica who, according to legend and Catholic tradition, out of loving compassion wiped the bloody visage of our Lord with her veil as he struggled under the crushing weight of His Cross along the Via Dolorosa.
The reason given: The traditional account of Saint Veronica does not have a scriptural basis.
