No because God appointed us one, and it was Christ. If you were a theologian, I would say that is heretical; however, as you have no formal training and I doubt your "pastor's" training extends very far beyond Jack Chick comic books, I will presume that you merely spoke from ignorance.

I can vouch for marajade. (It happens I have studied in a seminary, but that pales in comparison to reading God's Word with an open heart and Bible study with others, listening to good Bible teaching, etc.)
We have absolutely no need for any "vicar" of Christ, because we have Christ. There are so many Bible passages to support this (and none to refute) that one hardly knows where to begin.
And on the other hand, each of us represents Christ to this world and to our brother, we all being priests needing as the writer of Hebrews stated over and over again, only one High Priest, once and for all.
