The body of believers is never called "Catholic" (Roman or otherwise) in scripture. That organization came about officially hundreds of years later.

That reasoning. You seem to use the absence of the term 'catholic' from the NT as evidence that the early Church was not the Catholic Church. But, as I just pointed out, that same reasoning would entail that there were no Christians at least until the Gospel reached Antioch.

As I pointed out in post #578 the early Church was never called the Catholic Church. It was called "The Church of God". The reason there is an absence of the name Catholic Church in scripture is, as I have pointed out....in the same post, Our Lord asked the Father to keep the name of the Church in His name [John 17:11]. The New Testament bears this out....twelve times in scripture.

You can wish and hope all you want.....the Catholic Church is a far cry from the Church described in scripture.

You are correct....They were called Christians first at Antioch [Acts 11:26].
