That would indeed seem to be what an evolutionary tree of life suggests. In a temporal reversal, either the roots would be hanging in the air - or the tree would morph and disappear, elephants to insects, etc. Evolution has been observed to backtrack, but since evolution isn't the Hollywood cartoon caricature you depict, it isn't a problem.

A temporal reversal changes the direction of the "arrow of time". You say that isn't a problem, but where is the evidence that such an event has ever occurred?
