The moderates think they won.

In my experience, almost every win for "moderates" is actually a win for liberals in disguise.

Something we all need to keep in mind. Here in left looney Iowa and west loony Illnois, it is amazing what you hear from the pulpits when I go to a Catholic church here. On priest actually had a pro homosexual message in his sermon, and was praised as being "moderate".

I suspect that the RCC has been kept from following the ECUSA and others to closly for a number of reasons. First of all, it is big enough that you can have radicals and orthodox inside but not have them visibly "bump heads" as it were. Second, some of those orthodox saw the wave coming and mounted a counter attack. In the Anglican commuion, by the time most figured out just what was going on it was almost to late.
