Tarrying long could mean once, or 20 times, it doesn't say addicted.

But no one would ever be addicted if they never took that first drink.

True. That leaves no room, however, for enjoying the gift of God that he gave to gladden his heart.

The one who abstains for the glory of God does right. The one who partakes in moderation, giving thanks to God for it, also does right.
