Prohibition against alcohol is really an American fundamentalist/holiness/legalistic phenomenon. One of the more intriguing experiences I had when I attended a church descended from German Baptists was when the pastor handed me a beer after we played 18 holes. Definately not what the Plymouth Brethren boy was used to.
