Could the Roman Catholic Church's sex abuse crisis be tied to embedded Satanic and occult imagery in its artwork - some of it hundred's of years old?
That is the seemingly incredible thesis of a new documentary, "Rape of the Soul," made not by anti-Catholic bigots, but by devout followers of the Church.
Rape of the Soul is in theatrical release in major cities, including New York and Los Angeles.
The documentary explores the prevalent use of satanic, sexual, and occult and anti-Catholic images in historical and contemporary religious artwork. The film also discusses the acceptance of the artwork at the highest and most trusted levels of the Catholic Church...
..."Artists from DaVinci to Botticelli have imbedded subliminal images into their art for centuries, said Calace...In this case we found penises on crucifixes, anarchy symbols, swastikas, demonic faces and in modern works even the word 'sex' encrypted into the images.
The works in question include modern artists' work currently on the covers of missalettes and hymnals that at this very moment sit in the pews of churches throughout the U.S. and on children's teaching aids."

So please refrain from these personal attacks against me. Are personal attacks typical of Catholics? Are you Catholic? If so, then perhaps you need to read a little more from the Bible and learn how to treat people. You are acting like a jerk, IMHO, as are many of the Catholics here.
me, a non-religious person might be repulsed even more at Catholicism given the behavior of some of the Catholics here.
seems that some of the Catholics here think that there should never be a thread that could even remotely suggests something negative about Catholicism.
You seem to be getting a little tiny eeensy bit paranoid, here......maybe a bit over the defensive line....just ever so slightly annoyed....(I know you won't believe this, but there are apparently some people who can dish it out, but can't take it. Shocking, I know.)
PS, I'm DYING to know where it says in the Bible that it's okay to tell people they're acting like jerks, just on ONE PERSON's sayso...I know a scholar such as yourself can tell us. I thought you needed witnesses to jerkery, or something. Like two. Maybe I'm wrong. You can enlighten me.
If by that you mean that you won't be joining us any time soon, all I can say is, "Thank you, Lord Jesus, Risen Son of the Living God, for all Your Mercies great and small."
Yes, these images are the problem. Second only to the song, "Louie, Louie." Have you ever heard the words to that song? Can you imagine the damage it has caused?
Because of that song and others, I can stand here today and tell you that I am a sinner, in need of the saving power of God.
;-D
It's not an interpretation...It's an educated and informed opinion based on the writings of your church and church fathers...The catholic source material is at the bottom of the page...
Did you forget me?
Catholics do not "revere" much less "worship" graven images.
There is no invocation, nothing in doctrine or dogma, prohibiting the artistic depiction of sacred images.
I think you're confusing Roman Catholicism with Islam.
I know what you mean...And most of 'em would be lost without their church...I'm glad I never got involved in that racket...
They don't realize they don't need the church, or any church, or the Bible to be a saved Christian...All they need is Jesus Christ...Period...
Could you provide actual citations of works by these authors, with standard items like book name, chapter, and verse? Thanks!
Occam's Razor? Actually I prefer Gilette. They shaves very close.
LOL.
No, I am asking that people keep an open mind. Don't ascribe some motive to me, ok?
The Catholic Church determined the Canon of scripture? Without the Catholic Church you Protestatnts wouldn't have a Bible?
Puhleeze. Take your one liner talking points elsewhere.
The Roman Catholic Church can hardly take credit for the OT portion of the Bible. The Jewish people wrote that. LOL.
As for the New Testament, it will take more than presumption on your part to convince anyone that the RCC wrote the New Testament.
As an example of RC ridiculousness, I do know that the RCC relies on 1 Clement to buttress one of its doctrines - Apostolic Succession.
Peroblem is, is that 1 Clement was either written before or after 88 AD. If it was written before 88 AD, then Clement was not writing it as a so-called "pope", so how does 1 Clement carry any authority, then, since the RCC does not consider 1 Clement as Canonical?
If it was written after 88 AD, then Clement was writing it with the authority of a so-called "pope." Right?
Problem is, is that Clement in 1 Clement, describes the mythical phoenix as an actual living creature!:
"Let us consider that wonderful sign that takes place in eastern lands - that is, in Arabia and the countries around it. There is s certain bird that is called a phoenix. This is the only one of its kind, and it lives for five hundred years. When the time of its dissolution draws near for it to die, it builds itself a nest of frankincense, myrrh, and other spices. When the time has come, it enters the nest and dies. But as the flesh decays, a certain kind of worm is produced, which, being nourished by the essence of the dead bird, produces feathers. (Clement of 'Rome'?, 1 Clement c. 96 AD).
Given what Clement says here, if 1 Clement was written by Clement when he was a so-called "pope" then the RCC doctrine of the Apostolic Succession is tied to the mythical phoenix.
And that's a nice albatross hanging around its neck!
You see, not many are aware of the RCC's juicy little secrets...like this one.
Abraham was born in 1948; thus he knew Noah and was 58 years old when Noah died. It is fascinating that from Adam to Abraham there was a word-of-mouth tradition spanning only four people: Adam, Lemech, Noah and Abraham.
Similarly, Moses, through whom the Torah was given saw Kehath who saw Jacob, who saw Abraham. Accordingly, there were not more than seven people who carried the tradition firsthand from Adam to the generation that received the Torah. (Abarbenel)
Hello Did you forget me?
Will you share your faith?
You should spend some time on some Catholic threads. There are some seriously disturbed Catholic haters here.
WND posted an editorial with the outrageous claim that the Church murdered 25 million people. They further suggested that the current Pope acknowledged that this was true.
These sir, are ad hominem attacks. My suggestion that WND used similar tactics to those employed in the early 20th century is factual.
"The children who are born into these Communities and who grow up believing in Christ cannot be accused of the sin involved in the separation, and the Catholic Church embraces upon them as brothers, with respect and affection. For men who believe in Christ and have been truly baptized are in communion with the Catholic Church even though this communion is imperfect. ...it remains true that all who have been justified by faith in Baptism are members of Christ's body, and have a right to be called Christian, and so are correctly accepted as brothers by the children of the Catholic Church."
Hmmmm, I don't know about RCC bashing, but that would nicely explain the funny looking butterfly in Polly's cage after Polly's demise...
