With the exception of God, who probably is not pleased by the misdirection.
This is something I cannot fathom about faiths that purport to pray to anyone other than the Holy and Perfect Trinitarian God of all creation. But when you've got the ear of the man in charge, why bother with anything less?
Perhaps they heed human voices telling them God is not listening or that they need to do something before He pays attention to them. Pity.
"Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God" -- Exodus 20:5
God does not hear the prayers of the unsaved, and a saved man would never direct his prayer to anyone but God
Prov 15:8
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. (KJV)
Proverbs 28:9
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer [shall be] abomination
Jeremiah 7:16
Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.
