The members of Christ Church, formerly a parish of the continuing Anglican Church, will be received Sunday as catechumens in the Orthodox Church.
The parish will now be a Mission Church of the Western Rite Vicariate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church.
At the end of their period of instruction, the parishoners will be chrismated and become full members of the Orthodox Church.
The pastor of the parish, the Rev. Robert F. Waggener, former bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Holy Cross, will be ordained as an Orthodox priest at the conclusion of the instruction period.
Christ Church meets at Tharp Chapel, 220 Breezewood Drive in Lynchburg.

Hehehe!
How do they say "Cheers" or "Salud" in Antioch?
If the state was mentioned, I didn't see it. For the record, Lynchburg, VA.

A catechumen is a non-baptized person, aka a non-Christian.
Hmmm.... Interesting.
A catechumen can also refer to one who is preparing for chrismation (or confirmation) to be received from a heterodox Christian communion.
It is interesting that some Eastern Orthodox Churches make a practise of referring to Christians that seek instruction and Chrismation using the ancient moniker of the unbaptized.
Just interesting is all.
Most Roman Catholic parishes require baptized and practising Christians to undgo a year long process that parallels the catechumenate alongside catechumens.
