What this statement needs is just one strong Church leader to come out and condemn it for the pile of crap that it is. Do we have such a leader among the US Catholic bishops? I doubt it.

We have many who have condemned this stance repeatedly.

Where have you been?

I guess my key word would be "strong," meaning not "forceful" (or even "right") but POWERFUL and INFLUENTIAL. I think a strong statement of condemnation from one of the cardinals--like the new one in Boston, for instance--would at least get their attention. As it is, the direct attacks on the pro-abort politicians have been written off as the work of churchmen who are marginal to the mainstream of American Catholicism--and who do not have the ear of the Vatican.
