Alice, I cannot even imagine what it took to do what you have done, but you remain in our prayers.

May God bless you.. and keep up the writing!

Traditional Anglican ping, continued in memory of its founder Arlin Adams.

FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this moderately high-volume ping list (typically 3-9 pings/day).
This list is pinged by sionnsar, Huber and newheart.

Be of good cheer. It will work out in God's good time.

I was a sixth-generation Episcopalian - there's some inertia for you, though nothing on a par with giving up ones career. My family and I hesitated for a long time, even though the writing was plainly on the wall and had been since the first days of Pike and Spong.

We found a happy and welcoming home in the Catholic church - a wonderful, orthodox parish with priests who preach the Gospel with fervor. (And we didn't even have to give up our beautiful English music, because the choirmaster is a huge fan of Tallis, Byrd, et al. You'd think that wouldn't matter, but to somebody whose family have been church musicians since the 1890s . . . )

My only regret is that we didn't cross the Tiber sooner. As I've told others on FR, we were mourning beside a dead body when the Church was alive and well and waiting patiently for us, just around the corner.

We will keep you in our prayers.

God bless you, and your decision, and please understand, from the view point of someone who would be referred to as "protestant" (I serve in a Southern Baptist church). Even protestant arguments supporting female pastors fail when you view 1 Tim 2;11,12. "Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." This passage clearly states that women should not be in leadership positions over men in the Church. Pastor or priest, they are both positions of leadership.

I have a long-time friend who left her Episcopalian roots because of the changes in the 1979 ECUSA (revisionist) prayer book.
She's back at it again, trying to renew her faith. [She's now older, retired and having some trouble finding meaning in her life.]
She's finding it very difficult to fit back in.
I always found it odd that she accepted the women priests, but NOT the changes in the prayer book.

You must have done some kind of soul searching to make the change in your life. Pax vobiscum.

While I am quite sure that we could find much theology to argue about, I admire your character, courage, and conviction.

May the Lord bless you as you continue down your path.
