There is only one reason for proselytizing, that is to bring another person closer to G-D. Since Jews believe that non-Jews can achieve salvation without conversion, we don't go out of our way to seek converts, but we do have a mission to set an example.
Proselytizing for converts in order to increase membership is basically selfish and ultimately doomed to failure. What good are 50 million more "Jews" who don't follow the Torah? We already have enough problems from people who were born Jewish not keeping the Torah!
There is one, true, guaranteed, method of increasing numbers. I know, I have made 9 Jews and they have made 14 more.

Lets see if this holds true --- The first and most important commandment states --- THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME.
Is the above commandment strictly only for Jews ? Or is it applicable to all mankind ? In other words, if people of other cultures worship idols or other esoteric gods, are they morally culpable for violating the FIRST COMMANDMENT ?
If the first commandment is not applicable to all mankind, then Jews seem to believe that BELIEVING IN OTHER GODS BEFORE YHWH can lead to salvation ?? How does that follow ??
God bless you and your beautiful family!!
