I am not, and can never be [perfect], but through the Grace of God.

We agree on that point.

Meaning that I include myself among those who cannot ever be perfect except through the Grace of God.

But the knowledge that we can't ever be perfect unless God makes us that way shouldn't stop us from trying to be the best we can, in our own limited way.

When I attended LDS Seminary, I memorized the scripture....

...be ye therefore perfect even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect...
Matthew 5: 38- 48

I guess the Church has now changed it stance on this one too. We were taught that through repentance we could become perfect and thus dwell with the Father.

In Christianity, my salvation is not contingent on being perfect...it is contingent on recognizing my total depravity and need for a Savior. My recognizing Jesus Christ as my Savior is ALL I need.
