Sure I do.
And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven (Matthew 16:18)God following man.
My impression is that you believe that God really did take the "keys to heaven" out of His own hands and place them in the hands of men, as if man needs a "key" to get into heaven.
No, I think it is rather clear that Christ spoke of the key metaphorically and was referring to the power of His Church, headed by St. Peter, to legislate on spiritual matters.
Sure I do. [See Matthew 16:18] God following man.
I'm not quite sure what to make of this. I would assume that you would say that in "some" things man should follow God. But now you are adding that in declarations of the infallible Church that God should recognize and respect the wisdom of these men? ....... Since I know that you know I will take this as an affront to God's sovereignty :), I assume your answer to my posting of several verses amounting to "God can and WILL do whatever He wants" will be that God wanted to follow man. So what about verses like these?:
Dan. 4:35 : 35 All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: "What have you done?"
Are the men of the Church included in "all the peoples of the earth"?
Ps. 33:10-11 : 10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. 11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Does this sound like God is going to turn over leadership responsibility to men over Himself?
Jam. 4:13-15 : 13 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
Do men, even men of the Church, always do what they ought? Are you certain that the men of the Church have bound and loosed in accordance with God's will in EVERY SINGLE CASE?
Jer. 10:23 : 23 I know, O LORD, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.
How does this square with God following man?
