"Certain lewd fellows of the baser sort"

That is one of my favorite phrases in the KJV. I just love it -- nothing else quite has the flair and punch to it. It's right up there with "...the bewitching of naughtiness and the wandering of concupiscence..."

Leaving aside the Byzantine text-type and all that, it would be hard for me to give up the KJV just for the language alone...

How about James 2:20?

But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is *dead? NKJV

But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? NASB

Do you want to be shown, you shallow man, that faith apart from works is barren? RSV

I have also seen "imbecile" used, rather than "foolish". So what does that make a "faith alone" charecter? The Bible IS the Word of God, you know...

Regards
