A faith based on scripture, "Yes", a faith based on a group of men's say-so, "No".

You don't even realize that you are begging the question...You presume that the Bible is a work from God - because parts of its independent books say that? Consider, that parts of the Bible do NOT mention that it is Scriptures!!! After reading Esther, you are going to tell me that you KNOW this is from God??? Please. The Hebrew version never even MENTIONS the word "God" in it! Have you consider that? What you have is a bunch of books written over the course of hundreds of years, put together in one "binding", and was then later accepted by the community of faith as "from God". The Community makes the claim that "this is the Word of God" - not based on its own merit, but on the community recognizing the Writings as such.

This goes back to what I was alluding to before: that just reading the whole Bible leaves one with a sense that this could not have been concocted by any group of men on their own.

Then why don't the Jews believe in Jesus Christ? Why don't THEY accept the NT as Scriptures?

I truly see self-evidence, apart from quoting scripture, that the Bible must be from God. It's TOO perfect! :)

Only when seen through the eyes of faith. Many people scoff at it as a historical or scientific book, its many contradictions, and the often scatter-shot methods it uses to bring us theological truths. You will doubtless point me to a website that smooths away all the contradictions. Wonderful. That is your interpretation of the contradictions - but it is not self-evident. It is only through the power of the Spirit and the Church's witness that we recognize the Bible as from God - not of its own merits. I am beginning to become concerned over your apparent worship of the Bible.

Regards

One day they will.

Zechariah 12:10  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
the spirit of grace and of supplications:
and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced,
and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son,
and shall be in bitterness for him,
as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

At least he believes it.

2 Samuel 22:31  As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

Psalms 68:11  The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

Isaiah 40:8  The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

John 12:48  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Of course not in isolation, I believe that it was God's work that assembled the books of the Bible, such that when one scripture refers to "scripture" it includes all of the books, past, present, and future. Apparently, God hasn't seen fit to make any changes in quite some time.

The Community makes the claim that "this is the Word of God" - not based on its own merit, but on the community recognizing the Writings as such.

Then God certainly owes those gentlemen a debt of gratitude, seeing as how God could not inspire a Holy work that was self evident.

Then why don't the Jews believe in Jesus Christ? Why don't THEY accept the NT as Scriptures?

God tells us that to the non-elect, the truths of scripture are nonsense. It is apparent that many of the Jews that are related in the NT during the time of Christ did not have real faith, but also that many Jews did accept Christ.

I am beginning to become concerned over your apparent worship of the Bible.

And I was already concerned over your apparent worship of dead men and one particular woman. :)
