FK: " That depends on who you think the writer is, and how much of his/His own intent went into the writing."

I may have commented on this before, but it is certainly completely outside the theology of The Church to say or believe that God "wrote" the scriptures. That's nothing more than Mohammadenism and is a belief which has caused great distress in the world for the past 1400 years or so.

It scares me 100 times more to think that He didn't "write" them. :) Fallible men are always subject to error. If they were only guided, then any of them could have used their free will to reject that guidance and written anything they wanted. How can we conclude that the Bible is inerrant if it was subject to the contamination of man?

Psalms 68:11 : The Lord announced the word, and great was the company of those who proclaimed it: ...

2 Tim. 3:16 : All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, ...

2 Peter 1:20-21 : 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

I am not aware of any verse that states that God actually wrote the Bible. Can you point me to such Scripture? Fallible men WITHOUT God are indeed subject to error. I don't believe Catholics are making the claim that the Pope is infallible based on that Pope's own inherent wisdom, but it is based on the Power of the Holy Spirit - who maintains that the Church is and will always be the pillar and foundation of the truth.

Psalm 68 - "word" can mean spoken! Do you think Jeremiah wrote letters to everyone when he preached?

2 Tim - USEFUL. Prayer is also useful. And Ephesians 4 talks about the leaders of the Church as also being necessary for forming Christians. But no where is Scripture mentioned that IT ALONE is the basis of our faith.

2 Peter - This seems to do away with private bible interpretation, rather than bible alone doctrine.

Regards
