Jo, I would like to add one more line to your exhaustive array:
"Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle." 2 Thess 2:15]
In other words, by word of mouth or in writing. It also clearly states that we should stand fast by the same written and spoken traditions which we have been taught, and not which we taught ourselves by reading the Scripture.
Kosta, Thanks. I use 2 Thess 2:15 a lot, as it speaks of ALL the Apostles' teachings, both oral and written. Haven't heard a good answer to it yet. I was emphasizing that the Word, whether oral or written, is from God, not men. God continues to guard His Word, not just the first century. We both agree that God will continue to protect His Church against the gates of Hell - to do this, He continues to infallibly guide the Apostles' successors.
