"Me and mine remain Fish-heads". Please assure us that you are not stepping into the sin of pride when you let us all know that. Pride, as you know, is a capital sin. Virtue, to my mind, is doing the right thing, quietly.

Sorry, your desire to say that, for some strange reason, rankles me.

Are you equally interested to know that, having three children of my own, I was given a fourth child whom I reared from his birth when I was 44? I refer to my first grandson. I only mention this to show that many, many people put others ahead of themselves to give them what they deserve, and the possible sacrifice is set aside.

I use just one example that I've experienced to make the point. Other than saying it here to make that point, no one has ever heard me mention what I, just to use one case, have done. If the subject is brought up, it is others who acknowledge and give praise. I appreciate their recognition of some good thing I've done, but I look upon this as a special blessing from God. My "last baby" (in a way, because he is his mother's son and always has been) is a joy to me. He is not the little boy anymore and I will love him deeply forever. To assure him a secure background beats eating fish or meat on Fridays, though I have no problem doing that either.

I don't care if someone chooses to eat cheese sandwiches or macaroni and cheese, or any other meatless meal on Fridays. With all the needs this world has, it strikes me that some attention to others' needs to have a higher priority. Maybe our Lord disagrees with me. And, on the other hand, we can do both.

*13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing anymore but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men.

14 You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house.

16 So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
