Thanks for the info - I'm in Canada, and I think that the Congregational church mostly disappeared here decades ago when it became part of the newly-founded United Church - that explains a lot :) And yes, the official documents of a church are sadly not always reflected in the current beliefs and practices.
Pickings are slim up there for Christians. The Catholics must be doing something right, given recent attacks on them. The PCA has planted a few churches (and recently approved the formation of a Presbytery of Western Canada). The Anglicans, for the most part are a lost cause, as are those that joined the United Church. The Southern Baptists are trying to plant 1000 new churches in Canada by 2020.
