... Yes, but the Inquisition was primarily applied to Moslems. That doesn't mean that there weren't a whole lot of Protestants who faced punishment from civil leaders who were Catholic, but much of what is called "The Inquisition" was not. For instance, although horrific tortures were legendary, the Inquisition required that a prisoner be tortured at most once, and for no more than fifteen minutes.

My understanding is, it was applied primarily to the allegedly heretical Christians. That would include Christian converts from other faiths, most notably the Jewish Conversos in Spain. It would not apply to non-Christians. In fact, an apostasy would often terminate the case, since the issue of heresy would be rendered moot.
