I have had and probably still have some mixed feelings about the elders. They have been flawed and hopefully have learned from some hard experiences as well as gained some humility.

It does appear to me that on this doc, they probably have things more right than not. I do expect to see a fair amount of what they have outlined.

Forgive me if this sounds contentious. I have no sense one way or another regarding these messages. However your statement :...they probably have things more right than not..." gives me pause since I am under the impression that biblically a prophet must be right 100% of the time.

Gee, I hope God doesn't level the mountains of Colorado... They are my favorite places in the world...

If he wants to drop the flatirons on Boulder and smush Ward Churchill, I won't gripe, But I sure hope he leaves the San Juans, The Mosquito and Sawatch Ranges alone.

I have similar feelings about Colorado's mountains!

Some people contend that the ocean is going to reach into Colorado from the West Coast. But those are New Agers so I don't put a lot of stock into it.

Anyway--an interesting time to be alive.

At least 2-4 times in the Old Testament a very valid prophet of God missed it and was not stoned.

YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHECY discusses this issue and the differences between OT where Holy Spirit was resident only in a few vs the NT where He is resident in all believers.

[It's well worth reading on this issue.]

AND WHERE IN I COR 14, Paul instructs us that The local Body of Christ is to judge prophecies and discern what is fitting, accurate and not. No mention is made in those verses of stoning those missing it. And, there would not be established such a mechanism if the authentic prophets were expected to hit it 100% on 100% of the time.

I'm happy to give lots of grace for folks learning to operate in their gifting. We don't now tend to have God put folks on the back side of a Middle Eastern desert for 40 YEARS to drain and burn out all the pride and other cobwebs to their hearing God. Pride can be a big problem to hearing clearly as can other flawed human motives not yet burned out by the Lord's refiner's fires. I can be very gracious and forgiving in such matters.

I do like to see humility and progress toward hitting it more accurately over time.

I also expect God to eventually supernaturally grow all of us up so that we all hear, discern and speak His words as He wants us to flawlessly in these end times. I don't think we're there yet.

You are correct. In the Old Testament, a prophet who was wrong was understood to be a liar who was wearing the mantle of God's prophet falsely. He was stoned to death.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22.

There are at least two to 4 cases of very major prophets where that did not happen.

No, I will not get into the details. I've done that in other threads hereon. I don't care to get into that contentiousness again.

So the Christian doesn't need to take Deuteronomy 18 seriously?

I don't enjoy others putting their words in my fingers.

I say incredible things quite well enough on my own.

I've said what I wanted to say about the topic.

I don't share a simplistic meat-axe perspective on the topic.

Bye

If this doesn't work, they can always try their hand with those little slips of paper in the Chinese cookies. Do they charge for lottery numbers?

Well what about Jonah then? The things he prophesied didn't come to pass because the Ninevites repented...

An interesting theory.

You can look examples up in

YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHECY, if you wish.

So, how long have you been an expert on prophecy in this era?

No thanks.

I gave you a source.

As best I can recall off the top of my head, two of the cases involved Elijah or Elisha and Jonah.

But I'm not at all interested in any level of contentious exchange over it. This is already far more contentious than I'm interested in.

Bye.

Besides,

I've posted at least one of them on FR before. That's enough.

I post such things to dialogue with folk of like precious faith and perspective about such things. Not to get into contentious debates with . . . naysayers or others.
