Thank you for posting this. We are also trying to help our young children learn and experience this precious tradition that is Advent. We read a prophetic passage about the first advent of the Lord, sing a hymn and then pray and light the candle. We do it in this order because once the candle is lit, this all they can focus on. We talk about how we remember how the the people waited and longed for the redeemer to come, and how we now wait and long for Him to return to us.
