I think that for ALMOST ANY group of authentically devout Christians, the Canon is a decided issue with largely smaller groups with long standing traditions; the Roman church; etc. being exceptions.
The best Greek text is, to my understanding, not really in question.
Quibbling over minor things by minor and/or very tradition bound groups is not my notion of how best to get and walk closer to God.
Who is to say what is and what is not minor? The fact is that there are legitimate questions about the bible. The fact that such questions exist strongly indicate that a person should use his or her intelligence and critical thinking when reading the bible and also look into other early Christian writings. To do otherwise is an offense against God and who has so graciously given us the capacity for rational thought.

As a Christian I would think you would want to follow the tradition that Jesus set forth. Perhaps some of these minor "tradition bound" groups are following more closely the tradition that Jesus taught than many of the mainstream churches?
God gave us reason and good sense to use. If we are having to do all kinds of mental gymnastics to keep our theology from being crushed under the weight of science and common sense then something is wrong. There comes a time a person can no longer deny all this. At first there is fear, but then we surrender and find that God's presence is still with us and Jesus' teachings, understood through prayer, critical study and God's grace, is still a steady guide for a grace-filled life. It will happen - don't be surprised or too worried when it does. We don't always know God's plan but we should always know that we are in His hands.
