For those who are only persuaded by empirical evidence, I urge you to watch "Proof Positive" and "Ghosthunters" on Wednesday nights on the SciFi Channel.

Both shows have investigated places that are believed to be haunted and have tried to prove or disprove the allegations. Equipment used includes meters that can measure electrical fields and temperature drops, voice recorders and infrared or night vision video cameras.

Many of the phenomena that are recorded I would say are somewhat inconclusive, but I have seen two shows that have made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Both involved objects apparently moving by themselves, picked up by automatic video cameras.

The most dramatic was on Ghosthunters last night, where you can see a chair suddenly and dramatically move in an empty attic room. Not only can you see the chair move, but you can hear it scraping on the floor.

The teams doing these investigations seem legitimate, and so I don't believe they faked what had happened. It really gives you pause. As Shakespeare wrote: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

I know this alone is not necessarily the same as possession, but it demonstrates to me that there other things going on in the world that are not apparent to us on a day to day basis. Like perhaps the unseen struggle between angels and demons which the Bible speaks of.
