thank you for the ping! great idea....especially for me :)

i think that by isolating the aspects of the 10 horns/toes, and the little horn's characteristics - then, comparing historical events which match up with those things in ALL apects, we might come closer to understanding and identifying the "main players" (so to speak) that JESUS HIMSELF told us to specifically understand. (matt. 24)

im considering perhaps that the 10 divisions were in a time much sooner than has been considered so far. did not the iron legs (rome) break up into 10 divisions? also interesting to me is that the 10 divisions are described separately - independently & contemporaneously....not as in a "succession". though gibbon and other accounts describe the mass confusion, and the paths of invaders which crossed and re-crossed during the fall of rome, it appears the area - the kingdom proper, eventually (between about 350 to 480 AD) settled into 10 major divisions. they were: 1. anglosaxon 2. frank 3. suevi 4. visigoth 5. burgundian 6. alamanni (im pretty sure are the huns) 7. lombards 8. ostrogoths 9. heruli 10. vandals

while all this was going on, a "heresy" arose - arianism - named after the alexandrian priest; arius. this caused further action on the stage of history that im parsing out now.....need more time (sigh). hope there's enuf to chew on! LUB

Perhaps tracking those historical 10 regions the Roman world broke up into--and their tribal people groups and significant leaders or movements birthed therein . . . could be informative.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My understanding is that it will be some form of 10 divisions of the old Roman Empire. Something on the lines of The European Union or a country or a confederation. Which stretched from Ireland to Egypt and included Turkey, Iran, Iraq. Somehow this will be from the ten divisions of the old Roman Empire.
The answer to this is a 10 million dollar question!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do believe it is impossible to trace these tribes with biblical backup. As we get further along as here we have three horns pulled out by the roots. Does that mean the bloodline (roots) are extinct. Which would lead us to the next verse (below) with the seven diadems so that we would only end up with seven and not ten in the end times?
8 "While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth uttering great boasts.

3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems.

1 And the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore. Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.
Very good questions I am going to look around and see what I can find out about the ten Roman Tribes. We may be on chapter 7 a few days:)
