I think the simplest way of looking at it is this: the true chosen people of God always have been and always will be the Elect. People were saved by grace through faith in the OT just as they are today.

People were saved by grace through faith in the OT just as they are today. Well, that has certainly been the majority view of the church, esp. covenant theology, for centuries. I was not until dispensationalism came along and "rightly divided" the people of God into two camps, one heavenly and the other earthly.
