What I am concerned about is his apparent facililation. Maybe he knows that there is a schism in the Church and he is trying to manuever so as not to precipitate an open break.That's how I choose to understand the questionable behavior of some prelates. I realize it might be considered a charitable attitude, but I'd prefer attribution to such a sentiment to simply be the consequence of a good mood. My Catholicism shouldn't reflect any suspicion of good intentions or patience.
I agree. On the other land, I sadly look back on the long history of pandering to the powers that be by clerics eager for approval or donations.
