Sadly, I must agree. McCarrick didn't care when he was the bishop of Metuchen that the religion books in the high school compared the sightings of the risen Jesus in the gospels to the sightings of the dead Elvis in the early eighties.
Nor did he care that detailed birth control was taught in the junior and senior religion - aka "marriage and family life" classes. Nor did he care when the head of the theology department passed around a petition to get a woman's "health clinic" (abortion mill) into a neighboring town.
McCarrick knew me by name when I lived in Metuchen. These abuses are the ones that I and other parents personally informed him of. His inaction on these issues caused me to move my family back to Philadelphia.
I have no idea if he knew the proclivities of the homosexual predatory priest who was put in charge of the CYO in the Cathedral parish. My children knew teenage boys who claimed to have been propositioned by this particular sodomite. My wife had heard whispers about the priest. We had no proof, but our children didn't participate in CYO activities. I find it hard to believe that McCarrick wouldn't have heard the whispers that many teenagers apparently knew and even my wife had heard.
Come again?? I thought I'd heard it all!
