I've had kind of rough winter, but I'm still hanging in. How are you?

If McCarrick is indeed "our page 6 boy," Lord have mercy on us all.

I do note, however, that Kerry didn't ask to meet with O'Malley (his own bishop, or would be if Kerry acknowledged any authority beyond NARAL) for a public OK. Speaks well for O'Malley, who's been taking a lot of heat on this board for messes not of his making.

.46MAN,
I read your comment aloud to my room full of arch-conservative Irish American Catholics who shouted in agreement. Careful there, or you may have a Movement on your hands!

Oops! .45MAN, pardon me (for the slight calibre augmentation).

He's our page 6 boy.

Indeed. If we know that, so does the Kerry campaign. They will definitely use this, AGAIN, to silence the witness of the Church in America.

Amazing the mileage they are able to get out of blackmail these days...even affecting presidential elections.

Come again?? I thought I'd heard it all!

It's true. Unfortunately, we no longer have the book. It was a smallish light blue soft cover book whose topic claimed to be historical biblical criticism.

Among its other gems was the claim that Mark was the oldest (and therefore most accurate) gospel, and in its original form it did not contain an account of the resurrection. This assertion is patently false.

My wife and I were unaware of this book at the time our daughters were studying it. If we had only known! And to think we thought of ourselves as involved in our children's lives and educations! As adults who left and ultimately returned to the Faith, our daughters are much more vigilant about their own children's faith formation.

There are times when my blood pressure goes out of sight and there are times when I think that there's no way that I could afford the ammunition I would need to get rid of all the idiots.

No sense in beating around the bush with comments. I try to come straight to the point.. By the way thanks for thinking what I said was worth repeating..

Not God. Not the Chruch. Rather, Kerry informs us the he is the arbiter of Catholicism.

Reminds me of a statement by Bertran Lord Russel, a noted anti-Chirstian. He said that his generation of Ebglishmen were taught religion by agnostics. Liberal Catholics are, push come to shove, often agnostic.

What I am concerned about is his apparent facililation. Maybe he knows that there is a schism in the Church and he is trying to manuever so as not to precipitate an open break.

That's how I choose to understand the questionable behavior of some prelates. I realize it might be considered a charitable attitude, but I'd prefer attribution to such a sentiment to simply be the consequence of a good mood. My Catholicism shouldn't reflect any suspicion of good intentions or patience.

I agree. On the other land, I sadly look back on the long history of pandering to the powers that be by clerics eager for approval or donations.
