As an evangelical christian I have to disagree with how the catholic are being displayed in this article. I do not at all agree with this one evangelical church.
I do not agree with the catholic doctrine or the whys or why nots. But I do agree that most catholic have a genuine desire to want to know the Lord. Something the catholic church is found wanting. See how that the catholic church is falling apart over gay priest, gay marriages, and other internal conflicts.
These problems exist because of the false doctrine that is so much apart of the catholic church. And many catholic are begining to see the light, despite the clergy.
No doubt the clergy who wrote this is looking for symathy and striking out in revenge. Trying to sterotype evangelical churches has half baked. Nice try.

I respectfully disagree. The problems exist because no one in the hierarchy is correcting them. Heck, some of the hierarchy are even involved!

Really?
I do training in different religious groups and in the community and my last venue was for a methodist pastor and his parishoners who when told I was Catholic, turned to me and said, "I am sorry."
Now, in all Charity, I kept quiet. But this was a hideous example of the garbage I put up with in some circumstances.

These problems exist because of the false doctrine that is so much apart of the catholic church. That's funny, my copy of the Bible says "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor," not "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor, unless you really don't agree with the doctrines of his religion and like to recruit people out of it, in which case it's okay."
Maybe I need to get an updated version?

Your post is actually too silly to address.
God bless you.

No doubt the clergy who wrote this is looking for symathy and striking out in revenge. Tom Tracy is a senior correspondent for Our Sunday Visitor. He writes from Florida.
He seems to be hiding the fact that he is a member of the clergy, too.

The Catholic Church is no more falling apart than it was in the middle ages. Look, it's still here. The public school systems in the United States have a higher percentage of gay teachers and child molestation, etc. etc. I don't seem the schools falling apart.
It is apparent you do not know the right Catholics. As in other denominations there are always people who have not been catechized. You don't condemn a Church for the few.
I have worked with Evangelical Christians in Bible study over the years and the problem I have seen is the 101 variations of a chapter and verse by the groups.
My question to these people, and I love them, is: Where in the Bible does it say, The Bible is the ONLY truth you should believe. In 20 years I have not had an answer.

I don't think the Catholic Church is falling apart by any means. The Church knows the seven deadly sins and Catholics don't pretend to be sinless. Many are still 'coming home' every year from out of the evangelical wilderness.

Where did you ever get that idea? Falling apart?
Gay marriage? Did I miss a council? An encyclical?
What internal conflicts? Unless you're talking about loud mouthed liberals who can't keep their yaps shut. There's dissent, but there's always been dissent and there always will be.

I planned out in my mind a response to all of this, because I know both sides well, but then I got too lazy and now I'm not going to write it. Plus, there are others on this thread that are doing a good job of arguing my perspective, so I feel less inclined to keep defending it. I was born Protestant and lived in a pretty religious Baptist home for 18ish years. Now I am a Roman Catholic, and I feel so much closer to God now than I ever did growing up. Unlike some Catholics, I still believe that whoever truly believes in Christ and lives his/her life accordingly will most likely go to heaven. Of course, I'm a little biased and think that the Church is the best way to get there, but I am fairly certain that it is not impossible outside of the Church. Ok, that's enough of this.

See how that the catholic church is falling apart Falling apart? There were 110,000 converts to the Catholic faith this year in America alone, three of which joined our tiny parish this very evening.

False doctrine? Since when are you the infallible judge of doctrinal truth?
