God doesn't cause the rejection of Himself. Mankind is already destined for Hell. God elects His chosen and it is God who RESCUES His chosen from Hell. A vast difference in perspective. Always amazes me how many people can quote John 3:16, and some of them might even know John 3:17, but just how few have ever read John 3:18-19....
- He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the judgement, that the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil.

You're new to the thread, so you have yet to hear me expound the wondrous merits of a small book entitled "The Gospel of the Kingdom" by G.E. Ladd. It's a great little book on a subject called "realized eschatology." A great read and a great interpretation of passages such as this. To read Calvinism into this is to do some injustice to the message of John as it pertains to eschatology.
