Show me THAT and THEN maybe your group will gain a bit of respect from the REST of us who have been put down by your founder.

We will not flinch from the claim that the religions of the world have fallen into apostasy which required that the true gospel of Jesus Christ be restored. The man-made creeds were wrong, the teachings distorted, the Priesthood lost. The good news is that God loves His children enough that he saw fit to restore His Church and His Priesthood. If you feel "put down", then that is your own fault. It is political compromises, like certain creeds designed to keep some from feeling "put down", that has so twisted the truth and lead your churches into apostasy.

The dead still have a choice whether to accept the baptism or not. It is their choice - we just give them the opportunity to make the choice.

Ok, give that what you guys do MIGHT be possible, just WHEN will these dead dudes get to actually DO this 'choosing'?

Just after you folks are dunked, or at some future time?

"I really wonder how it will all fall out on Judgement Day. I don't know and don't pretend to know, but the bible does say all liars will be excluded from heaven. Now if the person sincerely believes what he spreads as gospel is the truth, I don't know how it will be for them."

I think there are going to be a lot of people either upset or glad that God is not as judgemental and vindictive as they are. He loves us all, dispite our sins, and his judgements will satisfy the demands of both justice AND mercy. I have faith in this, even though I too don't know exactly how every little thing will fall out in the end.

Another thought.......

Any statistics as to whether you are gaining or losing ground on this BFTD activity?

Are people dying FASTER or SLOWER than the rate your temple rites are being performed?

Even one more thought..........

Assuming that you guys DO believe that somethime in the unknowable future Christ will return and that will be it, will the people in the BFTD pipeline STILL have a chance to do 'choosin'?

"The Book of Mormon didn't seem to think much of "priestcrafts", I guess their own being an exception."

There is a difference between 'priestcrafts' and 'priesthood'. Priestcrafts are a tool of satan to lead other astray, priesthood is the actualy authority of God.

It's good to see that you parrot the 'official' party line! This is the same stuff that gets sent to the media, illustrating how the LDS organization would like (respectfully, of course) these 'people' be described in the print or TV-radio.

Cut the crap. It is stated and restated because it is true. That you imagine some grand conspiracy by every member of the LDS Church to hide polygamists is just plain retarded. One would hope that you were more intelligent. I suspect, however, that you're simply being obtuse.

Again, no quarter is given to polygamists in the Church today. If you marry an extra wife, not only are you sadistic but you're also excommunicated immediately.

And, another thing, that anyone imagines that Mormons in the past could just marry any and every woman willy-nilly is just being ignorant. For one, a man had to be called by the Church leadership to take an additional wife. Taking an additional wife without being commanded to do so would lead to excommunication. Second, the first wife had to agree to any additional wives. No agreement - no additional wife. Third, no one really liked the doctrine - as you can imagine. It was very, very hard to accept and to practice. The very idea of having to go to my wife and tell her that I've been called to find an additional wife brings me mortal fear. Finally, fantastical ideas of multi-wife orgies are just the products of dirty minds - that is not how it happened.

The DEAD belong to G-d

"The dead shall not praise G-D,
Nor those who descend into silence."

Yes, we are judged sometime after death as Hebrews states. And we hope to assist some people to be written in the book of life who lacked or rejected the opportunity during their mortal life.

And you really do believe this!

Amazing!

She has no direct descendents. However, she most likely had a sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin, or something who is an ancestor of a Mormon.

Her immediate family was killed, except for her father. The only possibility is that she had a second cousin who somehow made it to America and converted to Mormonism... but it's extremely unlikely. And that would be an extremely distant relation. (How many Jewish converts to LDS are there in total in the country, let alone related to the world's most famous Holocaust victim?)

Perhaps you can find this "relative", but the odds are much more in favor of an overzealous teenager of no relation who was moved by the Diary of Anne Frank and wanted to do something really special to show her respect. Throw in a few officials who aren't up-to-date with the 1996 settlement and who want to encourage a young person's faith, and next thing you know, Anne Frank is a Mormon.

Although I can think of one example who ran for Congress last time. Tom Lantos's daughter-in-law, Katrina Swett. I expect that she has not nominated many of her relatives for this particular ceremony, though, not with her father still around.

The flesh dies and the soul lives on.

Some of these FR posts sound like there speaking about the flesh rather than the spirit.

Bible
Book of Mormon
Isaiah

Chapter 5

20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

THE SECOND BOOK OF NEPHI

CHAPTER 15

The Lord's vineyard (Israel) shall become desolate and his people shall be scattered--Woes shall come upon them in their apostate and scattered state--The Lord shall lift an ensign and gather Israel--Compare Isaiah 5. [Between 559 and 545 B.C.]

20 Wo unto them that call evil good, and good evil, that put darkness for light, and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21
Wo unto the wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight!

22 Wo unto the mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink;

23 Who justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

24 Therefore, as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, their root shall be rottenness, and their blossoms shall go up as dust; because they have cast away the law of the Lord of Hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Even got the same VERSE numbers!

I had it wrong. Katrina is Tom Lantos's daughter, not his daughter-in-law. She converted when she married Dick Swett.

I've read all about Mormonism, pro and con as I care to. There is nothing that would make me believe in it. It kind of spooks me to be perfectly honest, although I tried to be supportive of my friend and never encouraged her to try to get out. Her life was a living hell. Some fundamentalists accused her of being in a cult religion and I poo poohed that. Now I wonder if I did the right thing. She wanted a divorce and I discouraged her from that because there was too much going against her. I've always thought her religion was partly responsible for her difficulties although she would never in a million years have admitted it. The mental health professionals could do little or nothing to help her in her situation. She died with a house full of pills. She had the best medical insurance and doctors money could buy. A lot of good any of it did her. I hope she has found peace and happiness somewhere.
