This act of terrorism was the culmination of a weekend of violence in Central Sulawesi in which a bomb exploded outside a cultural evening on Saturday night and a woman was killed after being stabbed 9 times in her chest and stomach in front of her home in Poso, also on Saturday night. The victim, Mrs. Helmy Tombiling, 35, was a well known Christian woman.

In a short time they became the most feared threat to Eastern Europe, twice nearly reaching Vienna.
