cheap trick behind the most devastating lie in the history of mankind
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_Poll ^ | 10/15/2003 | self

Here are the some of the results of a 1999 Gallup poll on creationism, evolution, and public education :
49% believe that human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life.
Evolution theory is the most important weapon to twist people's minds.
For 99% of the people the most important REAL reason for believing in it : a trick that costed a few bucks, 100 years ago.
Even more incredible : the trick has remained the same until now.
Only lately, with very fast computers that allow virtual reality software to perform convincing enough, have we seen some effects added to the base trick.
I wonder who is the first Freeper to find out the trick behind the most devastating lie in the history of mankind.

Is it anything like the trick where by treating the Bible too literally people become self-righteous, closed-minded, self-appointed arbiters of truth?

DING, DING, DING!!!

We have a winner folks!!

Actually, God created it all yesterday, and all of your memories and everything else were created by him as well.

I am the only one that has any recollection of this occurence because he gave me special knowledge.

Beat that!!

Oh, and disprove it as well...;)

I think it's pretty simple, actually. Atheism is itself a religion. Got a whole inviolable dogma and everything. Government should make sure that nothing but the official dogma is even acknowledged. In the Scopes Monkey trial, we had the atheists wanting to have the right to teach their version of events in schools - which they certainly deserved the right to have. Now, the oppressed are the tyrants, and the notion that -both- could be taught would drive an atheist into apoplexy. The parallels are amazing.

(Psst... by the way... NOTHING pisses the atheists off more than someone calling atheism a religion in it's own right. I'm serious. The hate mail will start flying in. It's the funniest thing. It's like walking into a Calvinist convention and screaming "I love Satan")

It is one day old, God created it yesterday, ALL your memories, all of your evidence, all of your history all of your science was put there to fake you out.

Prove me wrong....;)

I love doing that!! LOL

What seems much more significant to me though, is that it backs up my belief that atheists can be such zealots that they'll eat their own.

Atheism implies a lack of belief in gods. Atheism implies absolutely nothing else. You cannot discern a person's political or philosophical views merely from the fact that they are an atheist. As such, it is no surprise that atheists are not a single conglomerate entity. In fact, given that the only thing that they have in common is a trait that they don't posess, I would hardly expect a great deal of uniformity amongst all of us and I'm hardly surprised at all that many atheists have wildly different ideas on politics.

LOL! You are right about the religion label for "Atheism"

I point out that a religion is a system of beliefs. Atheism is indeed a system of beliefs!

They go crap happy and attack.

ROTFL. Yeah. That's why the second preferred target target in the concentration camps was Catholic priests. Prisoners were told that if they were Jewish, none of them would live more than a month. Catholic priests, 3 months. Everyone else, 5 months.

And in 1940, Albert Einstein in Time Magazine praised the Catholic Church as being the only institution in Europe to stand up to Hitler... because Hitler was Catholic and the Pope was helping him out.

Yeah, the atheists sure like to put out the communist propaganda too. Easiest way to take out your two worst opponents is to make everyone think they're one and the same.

Sorry, I was just stating a fact, nothing more.

I didn't say that he remained Catholic, just that he was.

You take offense rather quickly, so what cart are you pushing?

Saw some stats recently on belief in God numbers.

Basically the stats said that some 97% of Republicans believed is God and the Democrats polled a resounding 83% or some in that range.

Tells me that most atheists are indeed democrats.

"You take offense rather quickly, so what cart are you pushing?"

The anti-leftist-propaganda cart.

Not saying you're leftist, but what you said is an idea right out of the handbook. They are master propagandists... even people on the right are conned into buying their BS all the time.

"Atheism implies a lack of belief in gods."

Incorrect. That would include agnostics as well. Being atheist implies an active DENIAL of the concept of gods. There's a tremendous difference.

Otherwise I don't differ with much in your post, other than that I have also noticed that most atheists are indeed on the Left. Wirestrider's numbers look about right to me.

Yep, indeed it was, but it is also the truth, in a roundabout way.

But to take offense at evolution for it is rather amusing to me. And to say that Atheism is a religion is rather amusing as well, but other then that, we are on the same page.

Evolution is the best scientific theory at this point to explain the evidence, to say that it isn't, is ridiculous, but to say that it is the absolute truth is ridiculous as well.

The only people that seem to have a monopoly on the truth are those that have religion, and are fanatical about it.

Evolution is not a religion. Those that defend evolution, understand that it is the best scientific theory to explain the evidence, and I say that with all candor and confidence.

Sorry Ichneumon, but I have to post this again, it is just too good!!

Thank you Ichneumon, It's perfect for this thread!!

Sorry, the cartoon was not aimed at you personally...

The rest of it was, but not the cartoon, you seem pretty open minded.

It read like it was an attack on you after I posted it, so I wanted to post a disclaimer.

Yes, in fact, those evil Inquisitors, throughtout all it's centuries, killed less people than died during 3 average days under communism.

As I said, their means were limited. But, if you don't like that example, you might try Saddam. He was reputed to have killed somewhere in excess of half a million, in a much smaller country in a much smaller span of time. I don't think it's very reasonable to pin that on evolution.

Or the slaughter of American Indians during the European Conquest. (Deaths due to imported diseases don't count here.) Of course this took place over about 400 years.
