Well, if you say so I guess it's settled.
To: SpookBrat
Been there too. Yes it did. :o)
I think we are talking something like a 300 year difference between Kenyon and Garstang's dates and if I can recall correctly, Wood's point was that the pottery fragments that they found dated to the period mentioned in the Bible. I think Kenyon only tested in one small area of the town. There is also one part of the wall that stood. Has a house on top of it. Can we say, Rahab?

According to Genesis and Exodus, the Israelites did not dwell in Egypt, but in Goshen.

See DittoJed's #15.
It appears that the author of our article here has a preference for research that supports his prejudices. It's a common malady in liberal circles.

Actually, it just quoted a few people saying so. And, as has been pointed out, one of their big claims, about Jericho, is controverted. If Jericho is dated according to the pottery, it fits the Biblical narrative exactly.
To: Uno Animo
You sound pretty sure of yourself, maybe you were there or something?

According to Genesis and Exodus, the Israelites did not dwell in Egypt, but in Goshen.Actually, Goshen is a district in Egypt. To say that they dwelt in Goshen but not Egypt is the same as saying that people who live in the Shenandoah Valley don't live in Virginia.

"The exodus is a mythology as is the old testament."
Including texts such as Numbers or Kings?
To: Grut
Or, you could live in Egypt, Maine (east of Ellsworth).***
I thought MAINE was settled by Somalis!

Moses and the 'mixed' multitude Walked Out of/from Egypt and it's false/silly re-incarnationist-evolutionary Idolatry!!
B.C. 1440 was a great year!!

Ditto. Biblical evidence is pretty clearly for a 15th-century Exodus.
If one learns anything at all from the history of archeology, one learns to wait patiently. Eventually, if any evidence at all is found, it will bear out the Bible.

Archaeology is a friend of Scripture, that's for sure.
But only when it supports Darwinism.

DittoJed2 of post #15 just this year received her MDiv from Louisville Southern Baptist Seminary. She is (was last year, anyway) calvinist and a very, very solid Christian sister.

"She"? Why an MDiv? Is that no longer seen as a pastor's degree?
