Actually, the advantage to the Republicans is this: 90 days have to elapse after the redictricting map has been approved, before any election based on that map. That means the Texas primary must be delayed a week and cannot be conducted the same day as the other Southern primaries.
So, instead of being lost in the shuffle with the other primaries, Texas will be a separate battleground state -- with additional press attention, and the streets full of Democrat blood. That might be what he was referring to.

The delay in the Texas primary might have the effect of making it irrelevant. It was scheduled for Super Tuesday, along with New York's and California's.
It's certainly possible that the winner will be decided that day, and Texas's primary a week later will be essentially moot. The Democrats hate that possibility, because it reduces party enthusiasm and voter turnout. It also means that the local politicians won't have as many photo ops with the Presidential candidates, and they may not even come to Texas at all if the race is over.
Of course, there is the chance that Super Tuesday won't decide the Democrat race, and then all eyes will be on Texas a week later. But the Democrats fought moving the primary back.

Besides the matter may well be settled by then. If not I hope they kill each other!!!
