Michael Medved Show 870am KRLA
Posted on 10/10/2003 12:16:48 PM PDT by Cinnamon Girl
Michael started his show by saying how sad he is for Rush's addiction, and that he is praying for him and cares about him. He said if any liberals think this is the end of Rush's career they are dead wrong.

You should read or listen to Rush's words before sticking your foot in your mouth. You sound clueless.

"He that thinketh he stand, take heed, lest he fall"........sorry to tell you. There is NO ONE that is sinless....no one. Not Rush, Not BUSH , not Billy GRAHAM, POPE PAUL, NO ONE.....we are redeemed only by the sinless one, JESUS CHRIST. Thank goodness for Easter!!

Oh, you're absolutely right about that. Oxycontin is vile, evil stuff. Are you against guns too? Tell the cancer patient who suffers from chronic pain just how evil and vile oxycontin is. Tell it to the people who have debilitating neck and back pain that can hardly get out of bed in the morning.
How well versed intelligent people can be so narrow minded about something like this is beyond me. Oxycontin is not the problem. It is people who misuse and abuse it that is the problem. The drug has a bad rap because it is abused by some and demonized by other well meaning but ignorant people.

I have sympathy for addicts. It's the oxycotin I despise. I had a neighbor on that crud and it is crud. There has to be answers for chronic pain. It seems the oxycontin does not cure his pain and yet it's addictive. Modern medicine has to do better.

What is the source for these quotes?
To: menamena99
The way I see it is that a person should be strong enough to not to succumb to those vices and sins. "Those" vices and sins? There are many vices/sins and no one on this earth but Christ himself can say that they're are perfect. Pride (thinking we know more/better than God or anyone else) is the worst of all... and it's pride which causes people to have such unforgiving attitudes.
What really galls me are people that don't take responsibility for they're actions... EVER. Lefties seem to fit that mold more often than not. Rush, OTOH, hasn't blamed anyone but himself for this and I respect him for that. He is going to have to pay an unpleasant price for his actions, but I believe he will be better for it. I don't care how long his addiction has gone on... the important part is NOW and that he is making an attempt to correct it. All of us screw up. It's more important to acknowledge these mistakes, fix them as best we can and not repeat them.
I will certainly be praying for him. Overcoming addiction is a rough burden.

For the record, I adore guns. Don't have nearly enough of 'em.

Cruel behavior indeed. But one expects it of liberals. There is nothing more intellectually and physically debilitating than the constant battle against pain. Having witnessed it myself, and noting the dreadful affect it has on friends and family members I am only left to say about Rush's perdicament: "There but for the Grace of God go I." I pray that Rush has a full recovery.

Maybe someday you'll commit a sin (highly unlikely of course) and you'll want a little help and compassion from the people around you. If that happens, please think of Rush.

You've been doing some digging. Where'd you get these quotes?
To: grimalkin
There are many vices/sins and no one on this earth but Christ himself can say that they're are perfect.Agreed. I am a little worried that he may have encouraged someone else, ordinarily law-abiding, to put themselves at legal risk by getting him these pills. This, in my book, would be harder to forgive than if he himself bought the stuff from an already unethical pharmacist. Hoping for the best.

Right - one lib called into Medved and was complaining that conservatives were too hard on Teddy and others. Well, as far as I know Teddy has never admitted having a problem and he hasn't tried to dry out either, so to the general public, he is just another drunk. Most Americans will get behind and support someone who tries to overcome their problems.

I think less of Rush for getting addicted to such low life drug crud but he can (and will) change my mind when he returns better than ever. I draw a distinction between people who become addicted to pain killers and those who become addicted to drugs that just give them a high.
In 1996, my primary physician, an Internist, detected an abdominal aorta aneurism. He didn't know how long that it had been there or how long it would be before it burst - and I would be dead. When I went to a vascular surgeon, he was amazed that the Internist had found it.
Several months later, it was discovered that my Internist had been addicted to pain killers for several years, for severe back pains. He was writing numerous prescriptions in the name of his relatives and then picking up the drugs himself.
His license to practice was suspended for a year and he has now been back practicing for over five years. Should I put him in the category of crackheads? I don't think so.

I draw a distinction between people who become addicted to pain killers and those who become addicted to drugs that just give them a high.I agree with you. I'm really down on oxycotin because I've had personal experience with idiots who took it to get high. Rush took it for pain but at a certain point he became too comfortable with it. There was always a way for him to stop taking oxycotin and that's why he's going to rehab. When he gets out he will have to do something about the injuries and operations that have left him in pain. Or else it's back to oxycotin??
BTW I support Rush through all this tumult.

Ever heard of that disguting vulgar liberal website www.bartcop.com? I am sure those dirtbags and morons there are having a swell ol' time mocking this sad news about Limbaugh?
Until Rush comes back, I hope Mark Levin subs a few times for Rush. He is by far one of Hannity and Colmes' most entertaining and cutting guests.
Does anybody else dig the work of Mark Levin?

I agree with your opinion of your internist. I have nothing against a drug user getting free of them. Rush and him are/were functional drug abusers who kept going to work each day. The furthest thing from druggies on the street.
