I've read a lot about the Kennedy family and the Shrivers always struck me as different. The parents seem to have had a solid marriage and from what I have read they tried to keep their kids separated from a lot of the excess stuff that went on with the cousins. Between them I believe the Shrivers founded the Special Olympics and the Peace Corps, not bad. One of the pundits just called the Shrivers "the best Kennedy family" which was an interesting way to put it, LOL. I don't agree with Maria's politics but she seems to have her head together and basically be a good person. She has her kids in church every week (maybe one day the prolife message will sink in?) and put her career on the back burner in order to focus on her family.

To someone who inquired, Maria does occasional reports on DATELINE NBC.

Like you I always had the impression that the Shrivers were not the typical Kennedy's. I think she will do fine and after what she has been through have a hunch she may just rethink her politics.

Sarge Shriver headed the Peace Corps for JFK, but the do run the Special Olympics.

Sarge Shriver is the "bag man" for the entire Kennedy clan.
