As I said - we've been talking about it.

But we live in a "high wind" area and even the dish folks don't really recommend it unless we get one of those HUGE things and we can't afford one of them right now.

I really can't complain about my cable cost nor the outages (which really aren't that frequent) compared to what I was paying and (not) getting before we moved. We're paying $10 a month less and getting digital cable instead of reagulr, have 3 times the number of stations and have less than a quarter of the outages we used to have.

If only they would offer FoodTV - I would be a truly happy camper!!!

Huh???

Naw. If you can see south and build a doghouse, you can put a small dish up that will just kick um.. . well .. work real good !

We regularly have 50mph winds around here, and I've never lost beam due to wind. (a foot of wet snow in 15 minutes can be annoying, but we have this brush on the end of an 8 foot 1X2, and can reach the dish from the deck... we have to do that at the beginning of a squall about twice per year on average.

I absolutely detest cable. my broadband internet is by microwave. I don't want any electrons (some that I think very highly of) travelling through the dirt. sheesh.

If you don't have trees or mountains blocking a line of sight to the south, the satellite dishes don't have to be very high.

The dishes in those condos up in SW Coastal Oregon were only about 3 feet high of the ground or patios. They put them basically on the ground and the little rabbits loved the cable connections.

People with rvs or trailers have little stands where they set their dishes on the ground if they have a clear sight.
