If you don't have trees or mountains blocking a line of sight to the south, the satellite dishes don't have to be very high.

The dishes in those condos up in SW Coastal Oregon were only about 3 feet high of the ground or patios. They put them basically on the ground and the little rabbits loved the cable connections.

People with rvs or trailers have little stands where they set their dishes on the ground if they have a clear sight.

While there is some farm field to the south - there is a huge treeline less than a mile in that direction.

I have nothing against the idea of going dish. But I've got a bug up my butt - over the course of the past 6 months with moving I have seen to everything from fuel oil deliveries to getting cable, phone, electric service and a new ISP taken car of, to finding electricians, and getting our daughter enrolled in school. If he wants dish TV service - he can deal with it!!!
