I lost 40 lbs doing Atkins. When the people I worked with saw how well it worked for me, they started doing it, too. So far, a lot of fat has disappeared, but no kidney failures or heart attacks.

My only problem with the diet is the lack of good stuff to drink. I don't care for the Diet Rite drinks that much, although I use them, and have gotten to the point where I *despise* water.

Still, from 200 lbs to 160 lbs with no problems or regrets....can't beat it with a celery stick. :-)

I like herbal tea and that carbonated flavored water (no sugar, no carbs). Here's a recipe for a spritzer that I like. Note that cream has some carbs.

Crushed ice
sugar-free Toriani vanilla syrup (0 carbs)
carbonated mineral water
Heavy cream

Put ice in a glass, add cream. Put in carbonated water. Syrup to taste. Very good!

I also have trouble with the drink choices. Try this one...

Cherry Limeade (like Sonic)
Pour the following ingredients into a 16oz glass @ 2/3 full of ice:
* 12oz can Diet Sprite
* 1/4 c. unswt. cherry syrup (I use unsweetened cherry Kool-Aid powder to taste)
* 3 lime wedges (squeezed and added to drink)
