Howdy Ms FEather! Doin real good!! Are you back on your nest or are you still galavanting out in the world?
I had a very trying experience! Last weekend I had a wedding reception to play out way the heck in western Oklahoma. It is 2 hours from everywhere! I had been having a gassy tummy since the evening before, but had no clue there was a problem. I got there, unloaded the harp and all the equipment, and then tossed cookies.
Feeling much better, I got dressed into my green taffeta Tara dress. I finished my set up and started playing. Fortunately, the bride's mom had asked for "classical" so I decided to drag all that beautiful easy stuff out which I hadnt played for a long time. It had been a good decision because then I did not to have to play anything too challenging!
After an hour into the job, I got to feeling queasy, looked at my watch, turned out my stand light, and walked professionally to the ladies room and yorked all over the green taffeta. I spent the rest of my break sponging it off as best as I could. I wiped the smeared mascara off my face, washed my hands, and brazenly and professionally walked back out to the harp and began playing again. I dont think anyone noticed anything wrong. At least no one said anything, nor did I sense stares. I got through the purgatory of the next hour and after they sent the new little married couple away, I got things loaded up, and drove back home.
Did fine on the way home, then got out of the car and went straight to bed. I ran a fever and couldnt hold down water. It was very strange to have the stomach oopsies. Those are so rare for me! But I made it through and felt ok the next day. Fortunately it seems it was only a 24 hour variety bug. When I took the dress to the cleaners the dry cleaner lady said something really vicious has been going around. I dont know how my darlin other half managed to dodge the bullet, but so far he seems to have.
I apologize if this was way too much information for you to know...but you DID ask! ;-)
