No problem at all, tiki! It is always a joy to see you whenever it is convenient for you to come by! (That is true for ALL our prayer warriors too! ;-D)

Thanks for lighting your candle and saying your protection prayers for our troops. I just have such a strong feeling that our little extra efforts this month will add up together into a significant offering that the Lord can use.

I join you in your heartfelt prayers, cheers, and tears for our heroes. May they truly be successful in rooting out the evil facing us.

Thanks for your post 496, potlatch! I'm glad you like the ideas...as I said, it isnt exhaustive! Isnt that prayer by Stephenson profound? I think it truly says it all. On another thread
( http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1022953/posts ) I posted a book review about the book from which I pulled that prayer. This is what I wrote:

I have recently made it a mission in life to recommend that book released in the 70's named "A Man Called Intrepid."

It is about the life of William Stephenson who was the head of British Intelligence before WWII. It is written by William Stevenson (no relation!)

While the story is about a British organization and the events surrounding the use of the Enigma code machines, what I found fascinating was its recounting of the history of the anti-war/pacifist mechanations working so feverishly to keep America out of the war. I felt like I was seeing 'deja vu all over again!' as I compared it in my mind to what we are seeing today. The same lies, the same tactics.

While I personally think that FDR has a lot to answer for in bringing about unconstitutional changes to this country, nevertheless, the role he played in working to defeat the anti-war/pacifist lies was amazing. I was glad to get more insight into who he was, and how much character he really did have in the fight to defend our nation.

The book also gave tremendous insight into the role Churchill played. He relied deeply on William Stephenson every step of the way. They gave each other strength and encouragement, imho.

William Stephenson was truly an unsung hero. We owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude. I urge everyone to learn about him. The book is very well written, imho, and full of fascinating information. Please consider reading it! I do not know if it is in print, but I suspect your library will have it.

As those who have been visiting the Troop Prayer Threads of late already know, William Stephenson wrote a magnificent prayer which he gave to Eleanor Roosevelt which he wrote after numbers of pilots had lost their lives, and just prior to the beginning of the real onset of the Battle of Britain.

We offer our prayer of safety and thanks to all of our service people and that of their families.

We also pray for the safety of our President as he carries the burdens of world peace on his shoulders.

God bless them one and all.

Thanks for telling me about the book, TEXOKIE. I haven't read it, but the Title is well known to me. I didn't even notice the difference in the two mens names till you pointed it out!

The poem is so touching, is IS like a prayer, I think!

God bless these children, Father. God bless these families. In a time of Thanksgiving, let us remember them at our table, and hold out our hand to them in love and gratitude. You truly are God.

For all those who will not be able to hold the hand of a loved on this holiday, may we hold it for them.

In Jesus name...

You are welcome for the book recommendation, potlatch! I think I have become irrational on the subject. I have been going out of my way trying to get people to read it. Maybe it isnt as good as I think it is, but it really struck a chord in me at the time I was reading it. I truly believe it is worth the time if it is a subject that interests you at all.

I had to bend my head around that name coincidence also, potlatch. It turns out that Stevenson, the author, worked for Stephenson, Intrepid. Stevenson was given unprecedented access to all of Intrepid's papers. He also had the benfit of being there himself, plus if he had a question, he could ring up Intrepid and get clarification.

I had the same experience, potlatch, wrt to the title. I have a memory of it being in my parent's bookcase next to their bed for years. I had never read it.

I agree with you about the poem. I think it is a very powerful statement and prayer of which people in a free nation must be cognizant when they are in a time of war and someone is out there putting their life on the line.

Amen.

Thank you for leading us in prayer in your post 512, dandelion.

I thank the Holy Spirit for giving you this profound statement:

"For all those who will not be able to hold the hand of a loved on this holiday, may we hold it for them."

Thank you TexOkie for keeping the prayer thread going.

Would like the troops and their families to know that in our home we pray for our soldiers serving us in our daily prayers and we pray for the troops' families and also for the leaders of our country. We consider those serving in harm's way our heros and we honor them and are grateful for their sacrifice. May God never forget them now and forever and hold them always in the palm of His hand.
