New Schwarzenegger allegation (filmaker decides Arnold didn't quite say what is being reported)

Four days before Californias recall election and just hours after saying he had behaved badly towards some women in the past, California gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger faced a new allegation: that he once said he admired Adolf Hitler for what he did. The actor said he did not recall ever praising the Nazi dictator, and the man making the allegations did later raise the possibility that Schwarzenegger was misquoted.
GEORGE BUTLER, a film producer who documented Schwarzeneggers body building career in the 1975 movie Pumping Iron, shopped a book proposal on the Republicans life six years ago, parts of which were reported in the media overnight.
In the proposal, Butler said that in conversations left out of the movie, Schwarzenegger named Hitler as one of his heroes.
It depends for what, Mr. Schwarzenegger said when asked who he admired, according to the proposal. I admired Hitler, for instance, because he came from being a little man with almost no formal education up to power. And I admire him for being such a good public speaker and for what he did with it.
But early Friday, Butler had contacted The New York Times, which ran a story about the book proposal, saying he had found another transcript of the interview, with different wording.
That one has Schwarzenegger saying: I admire him (Hitler) for being such a good public speaker and for his way of getting to the people and so on. But I didnt admire him for what he did with it. Its very hard to say who I admire, who are my heroes.
Butler said his transcribers had had difficulty rendering Schwarzeneggers remarks because of his accent and said the only way to resolve the discrepancy was to listen to the tapes, which are in Schwarzeneggers possession.

Lantos' daughter Katrina is married to a former Dem congressman and possible 2004 gubernatorial candidate and was a Dem congressional candidate herself against Charlie Bass. As others have said, the whole lot are Dems-- Lieberman supporters, by the way.

This sounds like something made up after the fact, no tape, only hastily scribbled notes, largely relying on somebody's memory of what Arnold COULD have said, about a hypothetical situation that depended very much on conjecture and selective opinion.
A flower child of the 1970's driving a 1956 VW Bug around had a closer and more affectionate connection to Adolf Hitler, than Arnold ever claimed. True, Arnold's own father was a member of the Austrian Nazi party, but since when is National Socialism a sexually transmitted disease?

The person who gave the transcript to ABC is from NY and isn't in any way connected to the campaign. Interestingly one of the women who accuses Arnold of groping her is a talk show host from NY who just happened to work on the PR related to the movie Pumping Iron. I wonder if Joy Browne was the source of the transcript?
The LA Times article is called: Radio Host Tells of Incident With Actor by Megan Garvey and the URL is:
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-browne3oct03,1,1833803.story?coll=la-headlines-california Does anyone know anything about this talk show host and her political leanings?

They just wanted to inflict the damage and then backtrack.
Dirty tricks at their best.

Everyone not brain-dead has wondered how Hitler rose to power I keep asking that same question about non-Gray matter Davis.
