I don't love Rush, but IF it's true, and he talks about his addiction, I wouldn't think less of him. A lot of "normal" people get hooked on painkillers, they get an injury or something, and aren't as wary as they should be about becoming dependent, and then their judgment is affected. Addiction is not a sin, and IF that's his plight, I hope he gets the help and support he needs. Plus, he's not a politician, so if he has had lapses in judgment they haven't jeapardized the public trust, etc. He could become a role model for facing your burdens, and become a guiding light to others.

There's a difference between "mala in se" - licking toads or smoking crack to get high - and "mala prohibida" - doing something that's "wrong" b/c a law says it's wrong - getting painkilling drugs in an illegal way. Let's not order the ankle monitor just yet. Probation for first-time non-violent drug offenses is not a bad thing. That's the worst-case scenario, unless he tries to obstruct justice or etc.
