It has been a long emotional few months for Jacquelyn. She still has the fungus in her lungs and the Drs. say that her lungs will never grow again. It seems they've tried everything and nothing has worked.
She has been in Tucson for a while now and the treatment regiment and the emotional regiment have been grueling. Some days she's tough and somedays she just wants to give up. I talked to her on the phone one day and she sounded so mature and brave and I just told her to keep fighting. She told our priest that same day that she wasn't afraid to die. My daughter-in-law says that she knows all the medical terms for everything and knows exactly what they are going to do next.
The reason for the update is that Jacquelyn is receiving her bone marrow transplant Friday. They have decided to go with the donor rather than stem cells or cord blood. They are doing all the procedures to prepare her right now.
Cute story. My granddaughter told me that the donor is from New Jersey and she wondered aloud if Jacquelyn would have a New Jersey accent. After I quit giggling, I explained it to her.
thanks for the update. Will keep up the prayers.
I will continue to pray for her and her family,as well as for all those who know and love her.
BTW The University hospital in Tucson is one of the best in the country,so she is in good hands. Does she,or her Mom know that you use the name Tiki,on the Internet?
Saw this, and see that it's 2 weeks later now.... Any news on the transplant?
Yes, she had the transplant and her counts weren't going up at all as of Monday and then Tuesday she went into convulsions. They thought they were going to lose her but she came out of it and then they tested and her platelet count had come up. They think it was the anti-rejection drug that made her go into convulsions and they are reducing the dose. That was the last I heard but I think things are going okay because if anything bad happens or even anything exceptionally good happens I hear.
Thanks, tiki. Had a feeling about her, earlier this week. Along with so many others, little Jacquelyn remains in my prayers.
I just heard that Jacquelyn's counts have gone up from 100 on Tuesday evening to 1100 yesterday evening. It sounds like the transplant is working!
Thanks, tiki. And God bless you, too.
My DIL and grandchildren spent most of their spring break with her in Tucson. My granddaughter talked at length of how much Jacquelyn was suffering but how brave she was. She was very worried for Jacquelyn because she didn't see any improvement in her.
Please post your replies to kitkat

Was she the child hugging the other child on the tv show where they re did the hosp wing to make it more patient friendly????
If so we saw her and have wondered how she is doing.
Prayers for Jacqueline and family.
Hugs to her for being such a trooper.
I return joining and lifting Jacquelyn up to God for His healing, blessing and peace!
Yes, that was her. She was supposed to be going to Cassandra's new house to spend a few days. It hasn't been good since the beginning, although she did start making bone marrow. She developed Graft-Host disease and maybe we should have been more observant because so many of her symptoms were those same ones she had before she was initially diagnosed.
They showed her in the Ad leading up to the show alot and KV and I were so excited for her.
She will be in our multiple daily Prayer time.
God Bless her multiple times over.
Be strong.
That would be awesome for her to get well and hang out in the bead room.
Only watched the show to see your grandaughter but glad we did was very emotional.
I love how they put the careprovider room with a door link next to Casandra's. Perfect.
